Dave, now a 34-year-old account specialist, happened to play. Jessica and Dave exchanged numbers and got together for a tennis match that lasted about half an hour before it was scrapped for a day of margaritas and barbecue, and a lovely courtship ensued. A year and a half later, Dave invited Jessica to dinner at their favorite restaurant. “I was a bit suspicious about going there for no reason on a Monday night and even scanned his coat for any small, protruding boxes,” Jessica remembers. “Then I thought, what a ridiculous idea! We’d only been dating a year and a half.” But sure enough, that night, he proposed, and the two soon started work on a spring wedding.
