Jenny & Luan: An Outdoor Wedding in Henderson, NV

Jenny met Luan years ago at a friend’s house. “I took an interest in him right away,” she says. The two exchanged phone numbers and talked a few times on the phone before becoming a couple. “We’ve been inseparable ever since,” says Jenny. The prize was a one-night stay at a nearby hotel, and he wanted her to meet him there that night. “I was throwing him a birthday party the next day, so I told him I didn’t think it was such a good idea.” Luan finally convinced Jenny to join him, and when she opened the hotel room door she found him waiting with a proposal at the end of a path of rose petals and candles.

Jenny says she and Luan worked as a team to plan their wedding. Luan helped put together the slideshow, printed labels for the favors, and even tracked down an Elvis impersonator to entertain their guests.
The couple’s flower girl wore an off-the-rack ivory dress to which Jenny added a red sash. She also wore a small orchid halo in her hair Jenny and Luan’s ring bearer carried a ring pillow made of green mums.
Jenny’s maids carried blue hydrangeas, green orchids, and green mums tied together with Midori ribbon.
Jenny and Luan exchanged vows near a pool. The couple stood beneath an arch decorated with dahlias, roses, hydrangeas, green mums, and cymbidium orchids, draped with aqua-blue chiffon fabric. During cocktail hour, the couple performed a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
The Reception Decor
Jenny and Luan sent each guest home with a bottle of Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider with a customized label, a small red envelope that contained personalized poker chips, and a scratch-off ticket. “Since most of our family and friends weren’t from Las Vegas and probably didn’t want to take the centerpieces home with them, we focused on the favors instead,” says Jenny

Jenny and Luan incorporated shades of blue, green, brown, burgundy, and red into their decor. “Being Chinese, having red was important to me, because it symbolizes good luck,” says Jenny.
Jenny and Luan’s ceremony programs doubled as fans to make the hot, Nevada sun more pleasant. “They incorporated all the wedding colors and thanked everyone for sharing our special day,” says Jenny. The programs also honored the memory of Jenny’s brother by naming him as a groomsman.
