The two met at a birthday party in Boston but didn’t make an immediate connection. “I think we found each other interesting, but there was no romantic spark,” remembers Janet. “We are about as opposite as you can get.” Opposite indeed—Allan is 6’5” and Janet is barely 5’ tall! That thoughtful email led to a dinner invitation, and a relationship was born. Just over a year had passed when Allan picked up Janet from work following the late-night news. Though she was exhausted, Allan nudged her awake, got down on his knee, and proposed. Exactly eight months later, the couple tied the knot on Amelia Island. “The Boston winter is so long and tough that we decided to give our guests, who are mostly from the Northeast, a warm getaway,” says Janet.
