Jane & J.E.B.: A Formal Wedding in McConnells, SC

Jane and J.E.B. met at a Revolutionary War reenactment at Historic Brattonsville. Jane was volunteering as an interpreter and garbed in an 1840s-style plantation dress, while J.E.B. was giving tractor rides back and forth from the fields to the parking lot. The next weekend, Jane was off to Delaware to begin graduate school. J.E.B. got her address up there and sent her a letter hoping they could keep in touch -- and a relationship began to grow long-distance. They had their first date when Jane came back down to South Carolina and J.E.B. showed her around his family’s farm. The Bride Jane Marion, 24, alumnae director for a college The Groom J.E.B. J.E.B. had just finished cleaning out his family’s 1880s farmhouse, and the couple decided to invite their families over for dinner on the night before Christmas Eve. After everyone had left, Jane was worried about getting the dishes done, but J.E.B. had other plans. He walked over to a roll-top desk in the hall, and when he moved his family's Bible aside, Jane spotted the ring box. Almost a year later, the couple married at Jane's family's church, and returned to the spot where they had first met to celebrate with their 400 guests.
