An Intimate Cabin Wedding at Mile High Campground in Cherokee, North Carolina

Hannah Herring (26 and a registered nurse) and Aaron Thompson (28 and an asphalt foreman) started out as friends in high school before dating for nine years. Hannah had always said that she didn't want to get married until she was finished with schooling and had established her career, and Aaron waited before he surprised her with a simple proposal during dinner at her parent's house. "Although there was nothing special, romantic or fancy about our engagement, it will always be special to me because my parents were right there with us—my mother crying with me and my father taking pictures," says Hannah. From the start of wedding panning, the pair knew they wanted an intimate wedding in the mountains and invited guests to celebrate at Mile High Campground in Cherokee, North Carolina. Due to a rainy weather forecast, the couple moved their campground wedding to the deck of a cabin—which was still fitting for S'more themed reception. "By having such a small guest list, we made our wedding feel more like an intimate family-get-together," says Hannah. "We were able to socialize with everyone and actually enjoy everyone's company!" With the help of her mom, Hannah tried to DIY as many aspects of her wedding as possible, including her brown and blue bouquet with feather and pearl accents.???Photography by Suzie Guerrant of Jen Yuson Photography?Entire wedding was DIY.
