Influencer Casey Walker Brown's Boho Wedding at Paradisus Los Cabos in Mexico
After postponing their wedding twice because of the pandemic, Casey Walker (the blogger behind Streets, Beats and Eats) and Austin Brown (an electrical engineer) were finally able to celebrate with a boho-beach wedding at Paradisus Los Cabos in San José del Cabo, Mexico, along with 20 of their closest loved ones. With the ocean as their backdrop, the couple settled on a wedding aesthetic that blended a boho-beach vibe with colors of a desert sunset. The couple wanted the day to feel "effortlessly chic" and they accomplished just that with dried flower arrangements, a ceremony on the sand and an intimate seated dinner under a glowing canopy of string lights.
It was paramount to Casey and Austin that family be central to their wedding day. The couple involved their families from the very onset—Casey tapped her cousin to design the wedding invitations. "We loved the boarding pass vibe for a destination wedding and wanted to incorporate an animated drawing. We combined a few variations of ideas from Pinterest and ended up with a masterpiece," shares Casey. Unfortunately, not all of Casey and Austin's loved ones were able to be present at the wedding, but the couple still found ways to honor those not there. "Austin wore rings from his grandpa and uncle who had both passed away," says Casey. Meanwhile, Casey wore a pin from her grandma who was unable to travel down to Mexico because of the pandemic.
In addition to planning a wedding that honored and celebrated those closest to them, Casey and Austin also wanted their wedding day to feel unique and personalized in every way. "A lot of the wedding felt untraditional," recalls Casey. Notably, when it came to fashion, Casey skipped shoes altogether and went barefoot in her wedding dress. To kick the party off and add a festive note to the escort card display, the couple had tequila shots as part of the seating assignments. A sign told guests to "Take a Shot and Take Your Seat" as they entered the reception area. Another way Casey and Austin broke the mold with their wedding was through the special dances at the wedding reception. Instead of limiting them to a first dance, mother-son dance and father-daughter dance, the couple also invited all the guests in attendance to come to the dance floor and join in for a song all together.
As for Casey and Austin's first dance, they chose to twirl about to "Beyond," by Leon Bridges. "We are big Leon fans and love that he’s from DFW," says Austin. "Casey saw him in concert years ago when she was working in the music industry and knew he was something special. I sent this specific song to Casey when it came out and said it reminded me of her." Music was a major part of the couple's wedding, beyond just their first dance to Leon Bridges. Earlier in the day Casey processed down the aisle to Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper's acoustic version of the song "Holy" and then recessed to "Congratulations," by Post Malone. And to cap off the whole night, Casey and Austin selected "Good as You," by Kane Brown, as the last dance song before everyone decamped to the after-party.
The music of the wedding was so special that Casey notes that all of her "favorite moments revolved around the music—like walking down the aisle and our first dance. Each song we chose had a special reason it was part of our day. I’d get butterflies in my stomach and memories would flood back while also creating these new and special memories together." Meanwhile, Austin's favorite moment from the wedding day at Paradisus Los Cabos in Mexico was the couple's first look. "It was over two years of anticipation finally coming together," he recalls. "I was excited to see my beautiful bride and take photos. Like our photographer put it, this would be one of the last times you’re one on one and to enjoy it, so that’s what I did."
