Caroline Smoke (29 and a project manager) and Joey Swanson’s (32 and a VP of sales) venue was as urban as they come, but the guiding vision for their day was purely Mediterranean. “I wanted people to feel like they were in a different world,” Caroline says of the inspiration behind the Grecian color palette and flowers, and the Italian charcuterie spreads. While guests got to enjoy the couple’s European aesthetic for a few hours, Caroline and Joey had the thrill of savoring the Mediterranean first-hand on a honeymoon to Santorini and Mykonos after they tied the knot. As for the wedding details, Caroline and Joey swapped vows beneath a canopy of botanicals, seating their guests in a 360-degree circular formation. As a nod to Grecian architecture, patterned blue and white details were woven throughout the day, seen on the invitations, menu cards and tabletop décor. Lucite ghost chairs and hairpin-leg tables blended seamlessly with the downtown Denver loft venue’s urban vibe. The celebration’s vibrant arrangements incorporated dahlias, garden roses, cosmos, ranunculus and sweet peas. When it came to fashion, Caroline’s ladies of honor rocked deep blue bridesmaids dresses designed by one of the wedding party members. Caroline and Joey ended up both surprising each other with special dances at the reception—Joey did a dance with his mom, and Caroline performed a Hawaiian number. To end the night, instead of wedding cake, Caroline and Joey served up chocolate-and-espresso dessert martinis post dinner to keep guests dancing.
