Heather and Mike met through Yahoo! Personals -- “I had actually ‘winked’ at him originally, but he never responded,” Heather says. A year later, Heather had grown tired of online dating and was about to cancel her account when she saw a message from Mike. They hadn’t planned to make a big deal out of it (or so Heather thought). But after dinner, Mike pulled out a tiny piece of paper and read out loud to all their friends how much Heather meant to him and then he proposed. Because it was both Mike’s and Heather’s second marriage, they wanted a completely nontraditional destination wedding. They chose Playa del Carmen since it was just a short flight from their home in Texas.
