Hawaiian Chic Wedding in the Woods

Though some might consider Friday the 13th bad luck, Alex Fisher (28 and a senior events manager and producer) and Dave Knoph (34 and a creative director) play by their own rules—and that’s why they chose it for their wedding date. “It was a celebration that felt uniquely us,” Alex says. “If we were to give it a name, we’d just call it Dave and Al.” Dave designed the stationery, customized signage welcomed guests and, of course, the pair wrote their own silly meets serious vows.
The couple skipped a traditional wedding party, instead asking friends and family to wear whatever they wanted as they walked them down the aisle and took seats in the front row. “Everyone looked fabulous,” Alex says. Alex and Dave got creative with paper letters, including hanging a witty message above the handkerchief favors. “We acquired a lot of paper signage for the event,” Alex says. “Our décor was interesting.”
Alex and Dave switched up their sweets by offering guests a sundae bar stocked with Ray’s Ice Cream, a childhood favorite of Dave’s dad. Coincidentally, the couple bonded over a shared love of ice cream when they first met. “I knew I’d marry him when he came back from the local ice cream shop with a pint of every flavor,” Alex says. A neon sign illuminated papier-mache versions of Alex and Dave. “There was a quirky, DIY vibe,” Alex says.
Alex and Dave chose orchids for their centerpieces because the pair buy the blooms at a farmer’s market each week.
