Jessica and Timothy share a love of professional wrestling and wanted their wedding to pay tribute to the sport—without being too immature. “It had to be a big, glamorous wedding, and not like an 8-year-old’s birthday party,” Jessica says. “We called it hacienda glam with an homage to lucha libre.” Entering the ring: vibrant shades of blue and orange, luchador-mask envelope liners and wrestling mask decorations, all channeling the pair’s fave sport. “It was all fun and not so stuffy,” Jessica says. “We are on the island, after all.”
Tim wore a replica WWE championship belt that made the rounds as a prop all night long—he was even “challenged” to a fight. Escort cards with custom luchador-mask seals in coral, light pink and blue directed partygoers to their seats. “Some guests told me they even framed their escort cards,” Jessica says. A legit taquiza menu served up nopales (cactus pads), steak tacos and roasted poblano peppers with melted cheese, which guests ate at tables topped with colorful vases of tropical orchids, carnations and place settings of sparkling gold chargers. Miniature-size luchadors challenged each other alongside the colorful blooms.
Guests chose between two creative drink options: the Blue Demon Paloma, a grapefruit, tequila and blue curaçao concoction, and the aptly named Lucha Libre, a ginger beer, rum and lime juice cocktail. After dancing to new wave jams (Tim’s big musical request), guests bid the duo farewell with a sparkler send-off—and Tim rocked his championship belt, of course.
