Literature and Flight Inspired This Wedding at Philadelphia Glider Council in Perkasie, Pennsylvania

Elizabeth Crowder (30 and a librarian) and Andrew Serota (32 and an attorney) seamlessly blended both of their passions into one wedding. The couple welcomed guests to the Philadelphia Glider Council, a nod to Andrew’s lifelong love of flying. “From there, I tried to artfully combine our interests into something cohesive,” Elizabeth says. An avid reader, Elizabeth created a literary-inspired aesthetic, making paper plane decorations from pages and invitations in the form of library cards. “Liz, the effervescent librarian, hates the stereotype of being a shushing naysayer with thick-rimmed glasses,” Andrew says. “But she loves the look of traditional libraries.” In that spirit, a classic card catalog and desk served as the guest book display. Elizabeth hand-cut illustrated pages from chapters of The Hobbit, her favorite book, to use as markers for each table. At their seats, guests sipped java from a coffee bar as they ate falafel and salad before cutting into pumpkin cake with cinnamon buttercream icing, as well as almond cake with raspberry jam and lemon cake with honey vanilla buttercream.
