An Edgy, Moody Wedding at The Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey
Since Molly and Michael have known one another since sixth grade, they wanted to take the reins when it came to planning their wedding. “It was important that the event be a reflection of both of us,” Molly says. The couple threw a magical and romantic wedding painted in dark hues and decorated with minimal designs. By privately exchanging vows and having bridesmaids carry lanterns instead of bouquets, they infused passion and intimacy with tradition.
To match their classy-yet-edgy wedding vibe and moody color scheme, Molly rocked combat boots with her champagne-hued dress, while Michael paired his custom gray suit with a pair of leather boots.
“We kept the decorations simple because our venue was already so beautiful, it didn’t need much more to make it stand out,” Molly says.
Black taper candles and deep burgundy blooms at each table created a dark and romantic ambience. Instead of traditional party favors, the pair set up a tattoo bar (along with three other stations) with playful temporary tattoos of their faces. The couple selected a chocolate fudge and red velvet layered cake as the night’s sweet. It was topped with a silhouette of the bride, groom and their Goldendoodle, Wren.
Molly chose “Cosmic Love” by Florence and the Machine for their first dance because she felt the lyrics described their path to marriage. “I fell in love with the song, too” Michael says. “The tone and message are both powerful.”
