Fun Bohemian Summer Wedding in Columbus, OH
Columbus natives Meg Edison (25 and a librarian) and John Conlon (25 and a PhD student) took design inspo from their venue when planning all the way from Boston, their current residence. “Our color palette was inspired by the Audubon Center and sunset colors,” Meg says. “We even called our favorite shade of orange ‘Audubon orange.’ ” Most of all, though, the couple planned a day full of fun, from the palette to the tables, which they dressed with Meg’s dad’s pottery collection, and the reception dinner, which boasted a mashed potato bar.
When it came to executing her vision of autumn- toned invitations, Meg had the ultimate ally on her side: her mom. “My mom is a graphic designer, so she created all of our stationery,” Meg says. “I felt lucky to have her.” John, Meg and her mom conspired to play up the unique rotational symmetry of their wedding date, 6.1.19, and its resemblance to “Ohio” when blind embossed on paper. Meg and her bridesmaids carried a mix of rust-colored flowers, including roses, ranunculus and orchids.
Meg’s parents found an old gas station sign at an antique store and got creative when making it into a new display, topping it with Pantone-style swatches. “After my parents cleaned up the sign, they found a tag on it reading ‘619,’ our wedding month and year,’ ” Meg says. “It was meant to be.” Halfway through Meg and John’s first dance to “Dog Years,” by Maggie Rogers, the newlyweds welcomed their parents to join them on the floor.
