Adina Kamkhatchi is the founder and designer of her namesake New York-based jewelry company, Adina's Jewels. So it was only natural to celebrate her wedding to Isaac Mizrahi with a glamorous, jewelry-filled wedding. Adina and Isaac's whirlwind romance was an unexpected bright spot that blossomed from the ongoing pandemic; the two connected during quarantine through virtual dating. When it came time to move forward with their relationship and get engaged, jewelry expert Adina designed her own ring, a 4.2-carat oval diamond set in an ultra-thin, 18-carat yellow gold band with a platinum setting. "Isaac and I met via an online speed dating app during peak quarantine. Several weeks later Isaac asked me out on our first date and everything from there is simply a blur! For the proposal- Isaac had my entire team pretend as if I was going to have a work-from-home photoshoot. As we were shooting the second look, I was called downstairs, and that’s when I saw Isaac, on one knee asking me if I would marry him—of course, I said YES," recalls Adina.
When the couple's February 2021 wedding in New Jersey rolled around, jewelry once again took center stage. Notably, Adina expertly wove a butterfly motif throughout her wedding because “butterflies start off as very different from what they can become, which can be compared to my life," she shares. "My bridal bouquet has butterfly earrings all over, in nearly every petal! This was something really important to me since jewelry takes up a very big part of my life. I chose butterflies since they mean so much to me personally, and are so aesthetically pleasing. This played such an important part in my wedding since I wanted so much to incorporate what I love into my special day, without being cheesy." Not only did Adina's bouquet feature jewelry, but the bride also customized her jeweled crown and decked out her wedding cake in rainbow jewels to cap off the celebration of a sweet note.
In addition to butterfly details, the wedding drew inspiration from the roaring twenties and art deco style. "I wanted something very Gatsby for the ballroom and a change from the classic for the ceremony area—that is why I chose more pinks and greens. The color palette was very different from most weddings—and that’s exactly how I wanted it. I wanted my wedding to be different and unique," says Adina. "For the ceremony, I chose different shades of pinks, and apple green flowers to create something extremely unique and extraordinary. We even did a flower wall! For the reception we opted for darker shades of pinks and even some reds and purples—we did massive centerpieces on each table—we included these with some gold, black and cream decor, for that perfect Gatsby vibe," recalls Adina of her glam wedding at Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury in New Jersey.
Looking back on her wedding day, Adina encourages current to-be-weds to "not let the nerves and anxiety wear you down. At first, I was so nervous when all the planning had begun, but as I took a step back, I came to realize that this is such a special time in my life and that I didn’t want nerves to ruin it. I quickly learned how to manage my time through work and planning, and how to perfectly incorporate Isaac into the planning without boring him too much! Compromise is key, and remember that it’s not the day that matters most, it’s what comes after!"
