Fearon and Michael chose ivory, khaki, and pale pink with gold accents as the colors for their spring wedding. “I was going for a very classic look, sort of Ralph Lauren meets Kate Spade,” Fearon recalls. The Bride Fearon Carner, 28 The Groom Michael (Mike) Perry, 31 The Date May 3 It wasn’t exactly the proposal he’d planned on, but Mike was determined to make it work. He planned to propose to his girlfriend of six years, Fearon, on his birthday. For better or worse, they’d spent the night before partying...and when his alarm went off at 6 a.m. the next day, Mike wasn’t sure how he’d be able to convince Fearon to get up. Finally, he decided to show some of his cards: He told her, “Not right now, but at some point during the day today, I am going to ask you to spend the rest of your life with me. Now, I have a big day planned and we need to get moving.” According to Fearon, his plan worked (she was ready to go in five minutes), and on a day filled with surprises -- from a hot air balloon ride to Mike picking just the right outfit for Fearon to wear for an elegant dinner -- it hardly mattered that she knew the proposal was imminent. When Mike popped the question just before dinner on a hilltop in Rocky Mountain National Park, it was perfect.

Following Fearon and Mike's ceremony, guests boarded British-style double-decker buses to head over to the reception.

Fearon had a talented friend of her mother’s knit all of her bridesmaids lightweight ponchos to go with the dresses. “Being May in Colorado, it can be 80 degrees or 40 degrees, so I figured ponchos were a good idea, plus they’re a bit trendy,” she says.

Fearon and Michael married in a Catholic ceremony at Denver’s Church of the Holy Ghost.
Mike and his attendants stepped out in oyster-hued suits with pink ties.
The couple flew in a priest who’s a family friend from Seattle to officiate. “We actually chose our wedding date based on his availability,” Fearon says. He didn’t disappoint, with a poignantly personalized homily that he created using Fearon and Mike’s answers to four questions. “Since we hadn’t shared our answers, during the homily was the first time each of us had heard what the other had said. It confirmed how right we are for each other…our answers complemented each other perfectly,” the bride recalls.
A particular favorite at Fearon and Mike's reception was See’s chocolates, a holiday tradition of the bride’s family.
