Evie & Kent in Tulsa, OK

Evie North and Kent Shaffer were concerned about planning a wedding in the great outdoors, but Mother Nature bestowed sunny blue skies upon the couple's vows. The Bride Evie North, 22, web designer The Groom Kent Shaffer, 21, student The Date June 13 Evie and Kent first met during a group outing for young employees at the church where they both worked. They quickly became friends who e-mailed one another daily. The notes became the highlight of each day, says Evie. Months later, I had them bound to give Kent as a gift. It started out like any other pizza and movie night: Kent arrived at Evie's with a pie and a present. But this gift was different: He had crafted a mahogany etched globe. I collect globes, and one of my dreams is to travel the world so it was extra special, says Evie. And it got even better: The globe opened to reveal an engagement ring. For a summery feel that complemented the great outdoors, Evie kept the colors bright and light-hearted with shades of pink, coral, and sea green. A custom-made monogram stamp was used on all printed materials. The wedding became an occasion for me to do all kinds of crafty things, says Evie. I made the honeymoon gift tree out of wire, the silk ring pillow, the monogrammed napkins that we used at the reception and the guest sign-in sheets that matched our invitation stationery.
