An Ethereal Color Palette Wowed at This Wedding at Las Colinas Resort in Dallas, Texas

Sona Doshi and Srikant Patel's love story began in Philadelphia, where they crossed paths during their residency and post-doctorate programs. Their connection was immediate and profound. As Sona recalls, "We hit it off instantly due to all of our similarities in music, food, shows, etc." This shared passion laid a strong foundation for their relationship, blossoming into a deep and lasting bond. Their journey together reached a magical milestone in Zakynthos, Greece. "We were on a boat ride: we jumped in the water, and he proposed while we were in the beautiful ocean!" Sona reminisces.

The lovebirds designed a wedding that exemplified elegance, tradition and personal flair, held at the opulent Las Colinas Resort. This vibrant couple, both dedicated professionals from New York, had their wedding postponed twice due to the pandemic, making their long-awaited celebration even more special. Despite the delays, they meticulously planned every detail, ensuring their wedding was a perfect blend of their dreams and cultural heritage.

From the outset, Sona had a clear vision for their wedding. "I knew I wanted my decor to look dreamy and cloud-like, and I thought baby's breath was the best way to do this," she shares. The entire wedding decor revolved around this ethereal theme. They used only white baby's breath to complement their pink and mauve outfits. The traditional Hindu ceremony, held under a mandap adorned with a continuous line of baby's breath, set the stage for a visually stunning and emotionally resonant event.

When it came to fashion, Sona's choices were nothing short of breathtaking. She wore four couture outfits, each more exquisite than the last, created by some of the most sought-after designers in South Asian fashion. Her pastel wedding gown, embellished with thousands of hand-stitched floral details and paired with a delicate pink veil, was a standout piece. "I didn't want the traditional red outfit, and I thought blush would match well with the decorations I was envisioning," she explains. Srikant, not to be outdone, chose his outfits with equal care, ensuring they perfectly complemented Sona's ensembles.

As the wedding day arrived, guests began to gather for the ceremony, the air buzzing with anticipation and excitement. Family and friends, some of whom had traveled from different states, were thrilled to finally celebrate with Sona and Srikant. The ceremony began with the bride making a grand entrance, her floral gown shimmering under the soft light. The traditional Hindu ceremony was teeming with tradition as Sona and Srikant exchanged vows and promises under the beautifully adorned mandap. "I had a clear vision of what I wanted and worked closely with the decorators to make this vision come to life," Sona notes, and indeed, the setting was nothing short of magical.

Following the ceremony, the atmosphere was lively, filled with laughter and animated conversations. The decor remained consistent with the ethereal theme, featuring centerpieces of varying heights and florals suspended overhead that tied everything together seamlessly. "I wanted to stick to the same flower for the wedding and reception to continue that dreamy vision," Sona says, and her attention to detail was evident everywhere.

The reception was a grand affair with an air of joyous celebration. The couple made their entrance to cheers and applause, radiating happiness. The night centered around the vibrant dance floor that saw guests of all ages dancing the night away. The lively atmosphere reminded the newlywed couple of their prior sangeet event. "My favorite part was watching my family and friends perform dances for us during the sangeet," Sona reminisces. The sangeet's special performances by her father on the flute and her brother on the sitar added a deeply personal touch to the festivities. "It was all so special!" she adds.

Sona's advice to other couples planning their wedding is simple yet profound: "It's easier said than done, but don't worry about the little things! Make sure to enjoy the process and create memories along the way." As the evening came to a close, Sona and Srikant looked around at the joyous faces of their family and friends, feeling grateful for the love and support that surrounded them.
