Former co-workers Erin and Chris didn't just have a workplace in common. After two years, they took their friendship to the next level and discovered a shared love of traveling. Over the next six years, Erin and Chris camped and dined all over the world together. So when Chris suggested a trip to Portland, Oregon, it wasn’t all that out of the ordinary. He found the perfect opportunity when Erin wanted to kick off their vacation with champagne. Chris happily went to fetch some -- he already had it waiting on ice at the hotel front desk. Afraid he'd lose his nerve, he quickly returned to the room, poured two glasses right away and popped the question. Erin wasn't totally surprised. Nonetheless, you can't be prepared for that exciting moment, she says. Six months later, the couple started planning a casual, upbeat wedding in Virginia, near Erin's grandparents' home and about halfway between the rest of the couple’s families.
