Erica & Mike: An Outdoor Wedding in Rockport, ME
Erica and Mike's extraordinary attention to detail in planning their weekend wedding in Maine made it clear that the bride and groom-to-be were hardly the only part of the wedding that was a perfect match. THE BRIDE Erica Southworth, 30, works in banking THE GROOM Michael Halpern, 33, works in investments THE DATE September 13 Hometown goodness was a key feature of Erica and Mike's weekend wedding. Boxes with Maine saltwater taffy, Maine cranberry trail mix, fresh Maine grapes, and all the info one could possibly want on what to see and do around town greeted guests at their hotels. The couple even set up a website for guests detailing not only the wedding weekend's events, but also activities guests could enjoy in and around Camden. A boat trip on Penobscot Bay, hiking the Camden Hills, and a round of links at the Samoset golf course represents just a peek at the recommended recreations. Erica and Mike opted for a classic New England wedding style, choosing sage green and white as their wedding colors. The cool hues popped up everywhere, from the ribbons binding the bouquets to the bridesmaid dresses to the sash around the little flower girl's waist. A leaf motif also played a prominent role, starting with the save-the-dates and culminating with the birch trees used to decorate the reception ballroom. Erica also wove a few jade leaves in her crystal and jade headpiece. The final touch (of which we're naturally huge fans) -- lots of knots. From Erica's gown to the finishing touches on the favors (chocolate-covered Maine blueberries packed in white boxes tied with sage ribbon), wherever one would expect to see bows the material instead was tied in a knot.
