Epic Pacific Ocean Views Filled This Boho Wedding at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm in Goleta, California
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and Jake's career in the Navy, Rebecca and Jake were forced to pivot their wedding plans numerous times. However, despite the planning changes they encountered in the lead-up to their wedding, the celebration the couple ultimately had at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm in Goleta, California, was absolutely stunning. Against a backdrop of the pacific ocean, the duo exchanged vows with a boho-inspired celebration filled with orange blooms, rattan details and even an appearance from a vintage VW bus.
"Jake and I met when I was on a trip to Montana. We were young and completely carefree, just about to start new jobs and new chapters in our lives. The day we met was unusually warm for September; it felt like riding-with-the-windows-down-and-music-blasting, eternal-golden-hour-turned-never-ending-barefoot-summer night," recalls Rebecca of the early stages of her relationship with Jake. "We wanted to relive that feeling for our wedding, and boy did our vendors nail it! We found a stunning orchid farm overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and our brilliant planners and florist perfectly emulated 'golden hour' through a color palette of warm, gold-and-red hues. We also wanted to have little 'east-meets-west' touches throughout the weekend because I'm half-Chinese and was living in New York City, and Jake was a wild man living without rules in Montana. I wore a qipao to our rehearsal dinner, and we had beautiful chopsticks and Asian-inspired drinks at our reception. For our 'West' details, Jake's groomsmen all wore American-flag socks and we of course served steak at dinner."
Each and every detail at Jake and Rebecca's wedding was perfectly curated to create a truly joyful event the couple and their loved ones would remember for years to come. "We felt like our whole wedding was personalized! Having to reduce the wedding to a mere fraction of the guests we started out with, we focused on the little details that made our day so intimate and special. Everything, from the moment the sun rose on Friday until the sun set on Sunday, was our favorite." Even the wine glasses from the wedding, despite being a small detail, were especially memorable to the couple. "We were so in love with the wine glasses they picked that we ended up purchasing them from the tabletop rentals vendor afterward!" The jackets Rebecca customized for her wedding party attendants were another highlight. "I painted jean jackets for my bridesmaids and myself with all our last names on them. It was fun coming up with different designs (and thank goodness for my chill, easy-going ladies—they jumped in to help finish up painting while we were getting ready the day-of. Whoops!)." To add to the whimsical, boho vibe of the wedding, Rebecca even arrived to the vow exchange in a pink VW bus.
Looking back on the wedding weekend, Rebecca and Jake "were just so incredibly grateful that we could have a wedding at all, given the pandemic. It makes my heart swell and tears come to my eyes to think of how lucky we are. Everyone came together to make this happen for us. And we mean everyone! Most of our vendors were super flexible and understanding with how many times we had to change our plans and rework our contracts. To just have our loved ones gathered to witness us exchange vows on a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean and to celebrate together with us meant the world. We are so appreciative of the village of people it took to help us get there."
