An Eclectic Wedding With Botanical Elements at The Ruby Street in Los Angeles, California

For their Highland Park wedding, Annie and Matt took inspiration from old- fashioned seed packets. Annie designed ferns and flowers for their invites, menus and table numbers, and made sure to incorporate more nontraditional botanicals throughout the day. There were hits of vintage as well, like Annie’s 1960s Gene Shelly gown, the venue’s retro furniture and cheeky costume jewelry favors.

The venue was a craftsman-style former church. “It’s quite old for LA,” Annie says. “We loved the one-of-a-kind details like the stained-glass windows.”  Bud vases with scabiosa pods decorated the wood tables.  Annie carried a modern greenery-filled bouquet of anthurium, eucalyptus pods, monstera leaves and ferns.

Annie and Matt tied costume rings to each place card. “After we got engaged, Matt’s dad gifted me with the ‘family jewels,’ a chest of fake jewelry,” Annie says. “So we asked him to find rings at local thrift stores in Stockton.”
