Rose and Terracotta Set the Tone at This Boho-Glam Wedding at Wave Resort in Long Branch, New Jersey

For their beachfront wedding at Wave Resort in Long Branch, New Jersey, Molly and Julian leaned into a boho-luxe theme to complement their modern-meets-industrial venue. Floral arrangements filled with dried grasses set the tone for the day while a color palette of rust, mauve, pink, mustard and ivory further enhanced the elegant look. "We wanted our wedding day to be the perfect mix of our different personalities. Julian is super modern and is inspired by Miami-vibes. I am more boho and loves nature. The wedding theme was bohemian-luxe. The color palette of rust, mustard, mauve and tan drove my style, while the beachfront venue reflected Julian’s modern style. Our deal was this… I could select and play as much country as she wanted in the ceremony and Julian would select all of the best classics, pop, hip hop and rap tunes to dance to," says Molly.

Filling their New Jersey wedding with personalized details was paramount for Molly and Julian Notably a neon sign with the phrase "my wildest dream come true" was included in their bar design as a nod to their love story—they began dating after a night spent sipping tequila, so it only made sense for the bar to be a focal point and, given their color palette, for the signature drink to be a mango margarita. Their two beloved dogs, Lebron and Saquon, were also weaved into their bar signage. Personalized match books, custom napkins with fun facts about the couple, and other details made this wedding feel completely them. As for the reception tables, each table setting had a grass charger, velvet napkin, circle die-cut menus and acrylic calligraphed names of each guest, amid ample candlelight and lush floral centerpieces. "Florals were the star of our show. They consisted of king protea, spray roses, pampas grass and dried palm spears. It was important to us that the florals mirrored the 4-tone color palette worn by the bridesmaids," says Molly. Molly and Julian chose to sit at a sweetheart table that had two large peacock chairs to tie in the theme, with large floral-adorned pillars flanking each side. Another way the couple personalized their event was by scentscaping the reception space. "We received so many compliments on the Capri blue volcano candles lit at every table," says Molly. "When you walked into the room you were struck with the smell and there was this overwhelming feeling of being at home."

It was also important to Molly and Julian that family and loved ones be at the center of the wedding celebrations. Molly’s father had unfortunately passed just a few months before their big day, and to honor his memory, the couple weaved in many details involving him to make his presence felt. His photo hung from her bouquet, and they had a “you should be here”-themed memorial table with a custom drawing of him. "The most special nook of our reception space was a table we reserved for our lost loved ones," recalls Molly. "This past year we lost our best friend Colby that introduced us to each other, my father Robert to a bout with cancer and Julian’s cousin Keith days after receiving our wedding invitations. The table held a large sign saying 'you should be here' which is a lyric from a country song by Cole Swindell. The premise of the ballad is that the singer is creating a memory in the perfect moment that his deceased love one would have enjoyed." Additionally, Molly and her brother-in-law danced to a song in remembrance of her dad for the traditional father-daughter dance. Lastly, Molly’s dad’s side of the family has a ritual to dance to the YMCA—toward the end of the night, this was celebrated in remembrance of him that evening.
