Greenville locals Chancey and Zach drew inspiration from their home city when planning their spring nuptials at Village Green. “I wanted a tasteful and sophisticated look with a bit of color and character, much like the aesthetics of Greenville,” Chancey says. One year after their engagement, they said “I do” on Cinco de Mayo—and the day of the Kentucky Derby—with the venue’s existing stone waterfall as their backdrop. Zach sported a bow tie and cufflinks passed down from his grandfather, while Chancey accessorized with a cathedral-length veil and a pearl bracelet from her mother-in-law. Fuchsia, peach, blush and citrus flowers sat atop a hand-dyed runner at the head table. Inviting louge setups were arranged throughout the reception as a welcome retreat from dancing. “We wanted everyone to be involved, whether they wanted to dance or even just watch,” Chancey says. The newlyweds danced to Kenny Chesney’s “Me and You.” The DJ later played the Jitterbug so the bride’s 94-year-old grandfather could show off his moves. “Everyone was so surprised!” she says. For cocktail hour, bartenders poured champagne over popsicles to make refreshing “poptails.” The quintessentially Southern menu included sweet tea, crab cakes, pimento cheese BLT sandwiches and stone-ground grits. Cakes came in three flavors: lemon curd, chocolate truffle and vanilla cream.
