Disco Balls and Jewel Tones Got the Party Started at This Wedding in South Carolina

"I wanted my wedding to be fun and memorable... and that it was!" says Mandy of her and Colin's wedding at 701 Whaley in Columbia, South Carolina. With an eye toward planning a wedding that felt more like a party than a stiff dinner party, the couple incorporated a rich jewel tone color palette and plenty of sparkle. "The color palette included many shades of pinks, plums and metallics. It was gorgeous and bright for a January wedding," recalls Mandy.

The couple attributes much of the success of their fun and festive wedding to booking a strong wedding planner. "Luckily, I had the best in the business, Meagan Warren! She is such an amazing designer. She helped me pick fabrics, chairs, layouts, etc. It was really fun!" says Mandy. "She knew I wanted a lively environment where people didn't feel like they were forced to sit down and to not adventure around, so we created a layout where it flowed easily for people to roam and talk with friends. It was perfect! We had an incredible eight-piece band on one side of the ballroom and tables/seating/cake/food on the other side. In the middle was a beautiful lounge setup with a super cool circular bar. The lounge area was one of my favorite parts. It included large colorful velvet couches and an awesome 'The Griffins' LED sign custom-made from Etsy. Next to the LED sign, were 2 instant cameras with film and 2 photo albums for the film. I was surprisingly happy to find that everyone included their pictures in the albums. I will have them forever. My other favorite feature of the wedding was the very large and incredible disco ball display over the dance floor. Meagan's daughter actually thought of the idea and I loved it. Meagan designed the look and she made it come to life. It turned out gorgeous," recalls Mandy of her disco wedding reception decor.

Looking back on her wedding, Mandy advises all to-be-weds to hire a strong wedding planner to help them realize their wedding dreams. "I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner. Meagan did so much for me. I am very thankful for her. My advice to couples is to HAVE FUN. This is a celebration! Yes, it is expensive and time-consuming but make sure to breathe and make it about YOU. This is your day to be selfish and to do whatever you and your partner want to do. Make sure to come up with a list of 'must-haves.' We all want everything but it does add up. It is helpful for budgeting purposes if you know you want to spend X and Y on the most valued and important things to you. Lastly, don't be a bridezilla on your day. Everyone is there to celebrate you so sit back and relax."
