Desert Inspired Wedding in Marfa, Texas
Kelsey Ross (29 and a landscape designer) and Matthew Bostwick (32 and a product developer) couldn’t exactly bring the desert to their hometown of Austin, so they headed to Marfa for their wedding. “Matthew and I have been going to Marfa for years, and we love the desert and art scene,” Kelsey says. The couple let the setting inspire the day’s vibe, creating a mood board filled with images of ’70s-inspired pics and Ikebana florals. To bring their vision to life, Kelsey and Matthew asked guests to dress “desert formal,” so they rocked bolo ties and cowboy hats. “Everyone got a kick out of the locale,” Kelsey says.
Guests threw lavender buds as they wished Kelsey, Matthew and their dog off after the party. “The lavender not only smelled great, but it’s also biodegradable,” Kelsey says. Potted succulents, Ikebana-style arrangements and colorful taper candles made for natural décor at the reception. Loved ones grabbed slices of vanilla almond cake with raspberry lime jam filling and white buttercream frosting. Another sweet option for guests: blueberry cobbler.
