For their wedding, exactly one year after a fateful first date, Dawn and Paul planned what would be a weekend destination wedding -- for everyone but the two of them! Dawn, 37, grew up vacationing on the Gulf Coast, and after finishing her residency in Houston (she's an ob-gyn), she moved out there for the slower pace and the great outdoors. Originally from Memphis, Paul, 42, first visited Rockport in 1995 on a fly-fishing vacation. Within six months, he had moved there and begun working as a saltwater fly-fishing guide at the Redfish Lodge (he's now the head fly-fishing guide at the lodge). Their paths crossed while both were volunteering with the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited; within one week of their first date (a trap and skeet-shooting expedition at a local gun club), Paul began shopping for a ring. I have always been an avid hunter, fisherman, shooter, and conservationist, and I had always hoped to find a woman who didn't just tolerate my interests but shared them, he explains. When I asked Dawn to marry me, it wasn't so much a proposal as a confirmation of what we had known from the night of our first date.
