When it comes to designing the perfect wedding day, many couples look to their proposal for inspiration. An engagement in Italy may lead to a Tuscan wedding feast; popping the question while on a bike ride could inspire a cycling logo. For Corey, an associate equity research analyst, and Jim, a custom interiors painter and artist, it was Jim's chosen proposal spot (the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo) that dictated their plan of action. The Bridesmaid Bouquets
The Reception
As the nine bridesmaids (in mango and lemon tea-length dresses in three similar styles) looked on, Corey and Jim exchanged personally written vows.
The Couple
Corey, wearing an off-white V-neck Carolina Herrera gown with a soft silk-chiffon skirt, walked down the sisal aisle runner, which was strewn with orchids, to James Taylor's Something in the Way She Moves.
Leaving no detail overlooked, Corey and Jim served local key-lime tarts (instead of a traditional wedding cake), along with a palm tree cookie on each plate.
The Escort Cards
Corey and Jim's reception unfolded at an outdoor venue with dining and dancing under the stars. There were white and orange orchids and candles floating in the pool and a mix of round and long tables with varying centerpieces.
Tall vases filled with tulips, green cymbidium orchids, orange vanda orchids, pink gloriosas, fuchsia peonies, green viburnum, spicy roses, and orange calla lilies graced the round tables at Corey and Jim's celebration; each long table had three groupings of glass, square, and rectangular containers lined with tropical leaves and filled with clusters of the same flowers.
The Ceremony
The Bride
Corey and Jim's ceremony took place on the beach at 6:30 p.m. Well-suited for the setting, the bamboo huppah was dripping with green and white cymbidium orchids. To mark the rows, bamboo poles hung off white chairs with orchids cascading out of the top.
