A Sandstone Formation Was the Backdrop For This Mohave Desert Wedding at Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada
Spectacular views and desert vistas made of red rock sandstone formations at Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada's Mojave Desert set the tone for Sofiya and Joshua's colorful outdoor wedding. The couple wanted their wedding to be "beautiful and delicious" so they prioritized vibrant decor and tasty menu items. "Our non-traditional wedding was inspired by us wanting our big day to feel dreamy yet colorfully enchanting. So for us, that meant capturing unique, vibrant yet soft and romantic with a touch of glitter," explains Sofiya.
"This wedding had all the stops pulled out to make it the best ever," recalls Sofiya. "Our decor was our absolute favorite part of planning—mix-and-match seating and lots of colors. Plus we had unique fabrics and materials such as sequins, glitter and velvet tablecloths along with plexiglass, wood and gold metal accents throughout. Our most special part to decorate was our memorial table, simple yet meaningful. Everything went so well with each other and looked stunning against the Valley of Fire rocks. We used blushes, pinks, yellow, orange, blue, purple and greens to give a the wedding a jovial, welcoming feel. Our arch played a big role when it came to choosing our seating, instead of picking one color or having basic seating we pulled the colors from the floral arch and went with a beautiful mix-and-match seating arrangement."
As for the delicious part of the wedding, the couple served a three-tier cake, fresh fruit tarts and five flavors of frozen popsicles. "We went with popsicles for a fun and flavorful time that our guests could enjoy. It is so true, all you really need is love and dessert! Later we went back to our Airbnb for a low-key reception and our guests let loose on the dance floor and we all kicked back by the pool talking and playing games, definitely a night to remember."
Looking back on the wedding, Sofiya encourages other couples to "make sure to give each other attention on the big day. Don’t worry too much about your guests because I promise they’re enjoying your shared moment. So stay relaxed and know they are taken care of, and enjoy every minute as newlyweds."
