Colorful High School Sweetheart Backyard Wedding

Since meeting in high school, Morgan Davidson (27 and an artist) and Kyle Henderson (28 and an exterior cleaner) have lived in Colorado and California, so their wedding was a time to come back home. “We grew up in South Florida and wanted to pay homage to the area’s beautiful colors and bright flavors,” Morgan says. The couple brought a bohemian flair to Morgan’s parents’ backyard via mismatched glasses, straw placemats, sun catchers, Key limes and loose arrangements of wildflowers.
“We lived near Napa when we were planning, and even that couldn’t top my parents’ backyard: eight acres of woods, open grass, fruit trees and a pond,” Morgan says.
Morgan designed the watercolor invitations, then incorporated the same flowers in her bouquet. Morgan and Kyle exchanged vows under a mulberry tree strung with colorful ribbons. At cocktail hour, they served homemade mulberry wine made from its berries. “Since my family has lived in southwest Florida for generations, we served Key lime pie and fried alligator,” Morgan says. Hush puppies, her late grandfather’s specialty, were also a must. Painted cardboard tags hung from colorful mini clothespins and twine.
