The Bride Wore a Red Dress to This Wedding at the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Florida

Chris and Katie tied the knot with a colorful wedding at the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Florida. A palette of red, burnt orange, gold and deep green punctuated the day—and Kate even donned a festive red wedding dress for the occasion. Katie shares that the couple's wedding "was filled with guests from around the country traveling to beautiful, historic St. Augustine, many for the first time! We wanted to capture the vintage Old-Florida feeling at our wedding, so we used primarily tropical colors and textures and florals throughout. All the bouquets were accompanied by rattan fans, the kind my grandmother used to buy before going into the hot church in South Florida. We wore red because my Great Aunt Helen once told me that red is the color you wear when you’re celebrating something, and had our guests all wear red shoes (that’s a David Bowie thing, lets dance!)."

From the activities to the menu, personalization was a major part of the couple's Florida wedding celebration. "Our centerpieces were a board game made by my brother Dustin," explains Katie. "The game is called Cards, Marbles, and Jokers and my family played it with my Grandfather a lot growing up. It was a blast to have our guests be able to play and take home a little part of our family." Chris and Kate are big craft beer aficionados and decided to have a custom craft beer given to guests as another wedding favor as they departed what the couple dubbed "KateTopherFest," as a nod to Oktoberfest. "The wedding was very personal for us, for sure," recalls Katie.

Looking back on their wedding at the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Florida, Katie shares that her best advice to current to-be-weds is "to just forget all the things you’re supposed to do. Do what you want to do on your wedding day, you’re planning and paying and hosting all these huge events- make sure you prioritize your own fun when the day comes."
