Colorful Cedar Lakes Estate Wedding with Campy Feel
Dana O'Keefe (29 and a category manager) and Zachary "Zak" Scott Stein (31 and a director of product) wanted their wedding to feel like a destination weekend away but without traveling far from their families in New Jersey and New York. Once the couple found Cedar Lakes Estate, they knew it'd make for the ultimate sleep away camp. They took decor inspiration from the grounds, using a summer sunset as a map for the color palette and a mountaintop overlook as a ceremony space. In true camp style, Dana and Zak provided guests with personalized bug spray–just in case.
Dana and Zak channeled the spirit of the great outdoors with camp-themed decorations at the alfresco cocktail hour. Their florist filled a canoe with an eclectic mix of roses and delphiniums as a centerpiece to the poolside party. What would a canoe be without paddles? An escort card display made of oars, name tags and emerald-green ribbons guided guests to their next adventure: a dinner of Montauk swordfish, skirt steak, and summer pasta.
Dana and Zak wowed partygoers with a choreographed dance to "Beyond" by Leon Bridges, which took 12 lessons to get down. "When Zak lived me up and spun me around, everyone cheered," Dana says. "It was the best moment of the day–and maybe my life. I felt like a star." The newlyweds cut into a semi-naked confetti cake topped with flowers, including peonies and ranunculus. Guests also snacked on milk and cookies and apple cider doughnuts.
