A Refined Boho Spring Wedding at The Greenhouse at Driftwood in Austin, Texas

Andrea and Alec celebrated their love and marriage with a refined boho wedding at The Greenhouse at Driftwood in Austin, Texas. The wedding day included a soft color palette filled with shades of peach, green and yellow (the ranunculus and Icelandic poppies the couple’s floral designer used in the celebration’s arrangements are sure to inspire any to-be-wed!), and beautifully curated details at every turn. The wedding day started with an elegant outdoor wedding ceremony where Andrea was accompanied by bridesmaids dressed in eye-catching velvet gowns. Following the “I dos,” Andrea and Alec enjoyed an alfresco reception with a champagne tower and ended the night with a Jeep grand exit.

Andrea explains that the couple’s Austin, Texas, wedding venue inspired the overall design direction for their spring wedding. “Our ceremony was held on the grounds of the venue so that our guests would be immersed in the beauty of the Texas Hill Country,” says the bride. “The cocktail hour and reception spaces surrounded the greenhouses, which light up like lanterns at night, so that our guests interacted with this incredibly unique venue even when they dined, danced, or mingled with other guests. The greenhouses we open to view during the entirety of our wedding. Our guests were able to grab a drink and marvel at all the rare plants in the tropical and desert greenhouses.”

Andrea goes on to share that her and Alec’s “color palette leaned heavily on the shades of green found in the greenhouses and landscape while mixing in colorful elements reminiscent of the wild flowers in bloom at the time of our spring wedding. We chose wedding decor that would enhance the natural beauty of venue. Our rentals, from the lounge furniture to the table setting, were chosen because they felt natural in the outdoors. We also brought elements of the greenhouses to the exterior decor to tie the spaces together. Signage incorporated illustrations of plant life found in the greenhouses while the centerpieces and ceremony florals included succulents, cactus, air plants, and palms.”

In addition to stationery illustrating the plants in the greenhouses, the couple was intentional with their flower arrangements in an effort to complement the botanicals of the venue, rather than compete with them. “Florals were the most important stylistic element of our wedding,” says Andrea. “To echo the plant life in the greenhouses, we had succulents, air plants, cactus, and palms as a component of the ceremony design, tablescape design, wedding cake decoration, and boutonnieres. We incorporated a floral arch to frame the incredible tree on the property we were married under. Guests received air plants as their wedding favor. As a nod to the iconic Texas blue bonnets that were in bloom on the grounds of the venue, we incorporated hints of blue into the florals.

Looking back on their stunning spring wedding at The Greenhouse at Driftwood in Austin, Texas, Andrea shares that the couple “received two wonderful pieces of advice that helped us during the planning process: come to an agreement on the most important aspects of your wedding day with your partner and task your partner with specic responsibilities. This advice ensured that we were devoting the most time and energy to elements of the wedding day that were most meaningful to both of us and that we were able to divide and conquer planning responsibilities based on our respective talents and interests.”
