Classic Ballroom Wedding at the Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel
Jennifer Gergely, 29, a management and program analyst, and Erik Thamm, 33, a systems administrator, went out for their one year anniversary when Erik proposed in the foyer of the apartment complex they both lived in. The couple decided to have their wedding ceremony and reception at the historical Mayflower in Washington, DC for the simple, classic celebration they wanted. "We selected to have our wedding in the District [of Columbia] because the city is so beautiful, and we wanted to take picture around our favorite monuments," Jennifer recalls. Jennifer and Erik chose the Chinese room for their ceremony with beautiful artwork on the ceiling, and the ballroom for their reception because of its elegant marble floors and several chandeliers that would fit their classic theme. A color palette of white, gold and blush accents decorated the entire venue, from the wedding invitations to the bridesmaids' dresses and the tall flower arrangements placed in gold candelabras. The bride wore an ivory wedding dress designed by Paloma Beach on the wedding day, will a tulle bottom and lace bodice that had a scallop neckline embellished with beads. The groom wore a classic black tuxedo by Canali with a bow tie and black dress shoes.
