Citrus Filled Every Part of This Bright Private Residence Microwedding in Coachella, California
Brittany Steinmann (31 and an entrepreneur and clothing business owner) and Derrick Williams (31 and a regional sales executive) returned to the town of Coachella for their wedding since their relationship began at the iconic music festival. But this time, they were joined by only 18 loved ones, instead of thousands of strangers. After going their separate ways following a two-year college romance, “we ran into each other in a sea of 90,000 people and realized our feelings never went away,” Brittany says. In keeping with the laid-back setting, the day’s aesthetic was “inspired by vacation and traveling since it’s something we love to do but were unable to do this year,” she says. “We wanted to bring vacation to us and our guests! We love all things bright with a citrus theme, so we had a ‘Meet Me in Capri’ theme." To bring that vision to life the couple chose a bright color palette to be the focal point, as this would be the brightest day of a pretty dim year!” The day’s designs used peonies, garden roses, muscari, sweet peas, lisianthus, ranunculus and parrot tulips.
Brittany and Derrick limited their guest list in keeping with pandemic guidelines and had all of their guests (and vendors) virus tested ahead of the vow exchange. They hope to have a larger party with friends on November 6, 2021, so they can “have the same anniversary for our micro-wedding and our big celebration,” Brittany says.
Given that she works in fashion, attire was especially important to Brittany. “I loved how different my dress was from the one I am going to wear at our big celebration,” she says. “One of my sisters loaned me a beautiful blue topaz ring—a piece that each of my sisters wore on their own wedding day. It was so special.” Furthermore, Brittany always wanted a “ring that went across my finger rather than vertical, so I expressed early on my interest in an east-west setting.” Derrick proposed with a ring that met those very specifications while on vacation in Costa Rica. After popping the question on the beach, the couple celebrated their engagement with family, “a mariachi band and champagne! It was truly the best day,” Brittany says. "Derrick knew I wanted a simple, dainty gold band, so he had the oval stone set east-west on a slim band. I love how unique and timeless it is!"
