Michelle and John’s wedding day was dedicated to fusing their two cultures. “We wanted to blend Chinese and American themes together, just as we were blending our families together,” John says. The couple juxtaposed Chinese traditions—including the double happiness symbol on the menus, pig and rabbit cake toppers in honor of their birth years, and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony—with Western mainstays, including their ceremony attire and blooms.
