The Bride Carolyn Devlin, a teacher The Groom Bill Wilk, executive director of a nonprofit organization The Date November 11 Bill and Carolyn had what some might consider an interesting first date. Bill brought a friend along, assuming Carolyn would do the same, but when they got to the restaurant, she was solo. Then, as the three were making conversation during dinner, Bill told a joke that made his friend burst out laughing -- leaving his red wine all over Carolyn’s white shirt. When she went to the bathroom to clean up, Bill was convinced she wouldn’t come back. But luckily she did, and the two became a couple. About 18 months later, while they were living on Long Island, Bill convinced Carolyn to take the day off of work to go see The Late Show with David Letterman. After the show, they were able to go onstage to take pictures, and as Carolyn sat down at Dave’s desk, Bill got down on one knee and proposed.
