Cari Bradford is shy -- so shy that it took a few glasses of wine to give her the courage to approach Steve Vukelich at a brewery and ask him to dance. Five years later the two decided to catch a show at The Second City comedy club during a weekend in Chicago. Super-shy Cari was called to the stage to participate in the act, but was stunned to find that Steve had prearranged to propose in front of the 200-person crowd. The round three-tier stacked cake had French vanilla and chocolate marble filling and white fondant icing. Loose red, yellow, and orange rose petals were scattered on the cake and the surrounding tabletop.
The Programs
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of mini calla lilies in orange, yellow, and green, with red hypericum berries; the stems were wrapped in variegated aspidistra leaves.
We had three candles, tied with navy and pale yellow sheer ribbon, lit in memory of our grandfathers, Cari says.
