Bohemian Gothic Fall Wedding at Lace House Gardens

MaryGray Creech (27 and a preschool teacher and grad student) and Niles Lewis (27 and a musician and guitar instructor) wanted a wedding as personal as their music tastes. “Music has been a consistent element in our relationship,” MaryGray says. “We share new songs with each other as a way of communicating how we feel.” With that in mind, the pair planned a day as personalized as their playlists. “We didn’t have a ‘theme’ in the typical sense,” the bride says. Instead, MaryGray and Niles embraced the natural décor of the fall season for their outdoor ceremony. “It required no additions,” MaryGray says. The couple chose lyrics from their favorite songs for readings, dined at a sweetheart table apart from their guests, and Niles joined their band onstage for a version of Prince’s “Kiss.”
MaryGray and Niles said their vows in the arbor garden, a space full of overgrown vines and greenery. “It really reflected MaryGray’s love for nature,” Niles says.
During the planning process, MaryGray and Niles bonded over details, including finding vintage china for their sweetheart table. The antique plates topped a pink silk tablecloth. The couple wanted what MaryGray calls a “bohemian gothic” look and covered the venue in a dark, fall-inspired color palette, mercury glass and overgrown floral installations. Guests took home mix CDs in custom sleeves, with songs selected by MaryGray and Niles.
