Blush and Gold Wowed at This Wedding at Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California
Chi met William through the simplest of polite gestures: when he held the door for her. Ever since, the pair has continued to emphasize romantic touches, from small details to grand gestures. In that spirit, their Christmas Eve engagement led to a California destination wedding eight months later in Newport Beach. When it came to wedding design, “we took all of our inspiration from our love for each other,” Chi says. The couple selected modern furniture in honor of their shared passion for architecture, but kept their paper goods, flowers and color palette classic. The bride carried white roses and peonies down the aisle, while the wedding party’s arrangements included pops of pink. Chi chose not to wear jewelry or accessories with her veil and gown. “I didn’t want anything to outshine the beauty of the dress,” Chi says. In a nod to Chi’s Vietnamese heritage, the pair changed into traditional Vietnamese outfits for dancing at the end of the night.
Chi and William said their vows under a specially designed gazebo draped in pure white chiffon, roses and hydrangeas. Chi and William’s guests found their seats by selecting faux flowers with their names written on the leaves from a wall reading “let love grow.” “The tablescapes reflected the day’s color palette with sleek shades of glittering gold, black-and-white marble plates, acrylic menus and blush drinkware. Geometric mirrored tables and abstract chandeliers added an elevated edge to the blush-pink color palette. One of our goals was to make this a real party,” Chi says. To celebrate, not only did Chi and William hire a DJ and book a photo booth, but they also requested the services of a magician, cigar rollers and fire dancers.
