A Dreamy Blue-and-White Palette Anchored This Tented Garden Wedding at Hobbit Hollow in Skaneateles, New York
College sweethearts Carly and Mark (they met playing lacrosse in college!) tied the knot with a church wedding ceremony followed by a tented wedding reception at Hobbit Hollow in Skaneateles, New York. In short, the couple describes their wedding as "epic, magical and fun! Everything from the details to the energy to the love that filled the air to the people involved made it the most magical day."
When planning the wedding day, curating a specific vibe for the celebration was paramount to the couple. "Mark and I are big on aesthetics and atmosphere. We stayed true to the energy that we wanted our wedding to give off and knew that the vibe we wanted was fun, happy, and filled with love! We were aiming for an air of relaxed sophistication. We wanted a dreamy, romantic, yet simple theme. It was so spot on," recalls Carly.
While the couple's wedding came together beautifully, the road leading up to the event was rocky. "To say we navigated twists and turns given the circumstances around COVID-19 would be an understatement," explains Carly. "We went from planning a 250-person wedding at a venue to a 40-person, family-only wedding in my childhood backyard...and it was perfect. From day one, Mark and I cared most about the feel of our wedding. We wanted everyone to have a blast, to relax and to feel comfortable and at ease during our wedding. Our decor and style reflected that."
A big part of curating their dream wedding aesthetic came down to the event's flower arrangements. "Florals were so important to us. They added a whimsical, dreamy element to our small, backyard wedding," says Carly. "We had a dramatic floral entrance to our sailcloth tent that we were crazy about. We also had a wall of greenery behind our dance floor with more flowers. I loved pairing the casual backyard vibe of our wedding with over-the-top florals. I thought it was a beautiful dynamic."
Entertainment was another key element in achieving the couple's dream vibe. "One of my favorite parts of the wedding was our extended cocktail hour with live music," shares Carly. "It was a blast and people were on the dance floor the second they arrived given how amazing the music was. It made for such a fun start to the evening and set the tone we were hoping for—relaxed, sophisticated and fun."
