Blue and Orange Wowed at This Couple's Indian-English Fusion Wedding in Calgary, Alberta
Vibrant tangerine, dark teal and dusty sage green set the scene at Tila and Jake’s private residence wedding in Calgary, Canada. To honor Tila’s Bengali heritage and Jake’s English heritage, the couple tied the knot with an Indian-English-fusion wedding ceremony before celebrating with a romantic indoor wedding reception. “We had bright spring color palette that included seafoam green saris for the bridesmaids, yellow ties for the groom and groomsmen, and a mixture of yellows, oranges, and pinks for the flowers,” recalls Tila. “We also incorporated emerald green for the evening reception in our head table backdrop and in the cheesecloth table runners.”
“We wanted to have a wedding that was a fusion of my Bengali heritage and Jake's English heritage. Although we wanted our day to combine customs from Western and Eastern cultures, we were also set on having a quick secular ceremony. We skipped most of the religious traditions but kept important cultural ones, such as exchanging garlands at the beginning of our ceremony.”
In addition to ample cultural details, Tila and Jake also filled their nuptials with plenty of additional personalization. From seed packets as wedding favors and a cellist at the ceremony in honor of Tila’s favorite instrument to a donut bar at the wedding reception, each detail they selected reflected their partnership and love story.
Looking back on the couple’s beautiful orange-and-green wedding in Canada, Tila shares that her “best piece of advice for wedding planning would be to invest in the elements of your wedding that will bring you joy. For the longest time, I thought I would have to compromise on having film photography and fresh flowers at our event. When we made the decision to invest in those things and the right vendors for us. In turn, we found we got so much more excited about our day. It was more than worth it for us.”
