Blue-Gray Filled This Jewish-Chinese Fusion Wedding at The Addison Grove in Austin, Texas
Leah and Julian looked to shades of blue, gray, charcoal and green to bring their earthy palette to life. “We wanted to dispel the misconception among our California-based friends and family who hadn’t yet traveled to Austin that a Texas wedding meant ‘desert, tumbleweed and cowboys,’ ” Leah says. “The venue was luscious and green, and we wanted a colorscape that would complement that.” Nonetheless, the pair did incorporate a bit of West Coast flair into their celebration: The stationery was inspired by menu designs from some of their favorite San Francisco restaurants. The Jewish ceremony took place inside the property’s modern farmhouse. “I opted not to wear a veil and swept my hair up to show off the back of my dress,” Leah says. She also wore a chunky heel to make maneuvering outdoors a breeze. After cocktail hour, Chinese lion dance performers led guests to the tree grove for dinner. “We served a family-style meal to encourage people to get to know one another,” Leah says. Leah asked that her favorite plant be put to use at the reception. “We love succulents and wanted the flowers to be modern and clean but not staged or overdone—like someone had gathered them from the field nearby,” Leah says of the arrangements .A dessert display framed by a greenery-covered pergola featured a lemon and white cake with a mixed berry chardonnay filling. Mini cupcakes and pies, plus churros, made for a super-sweet finish.
