Blacktie Museum Wedding in Boston

The Institute of Contemporary Art is one of Alexis Burbank’s (32 and a healthcare consultant) favorite places in Boston, so when she and Jamie Marino (32 and works in media content acquisition) decided to marry on its waterfront plaza, their day’s design took cues from the museum. “We focused on neutral colors and natural elements to let the ICA speak for itself,” Alexis says. A palette of green, white and blue was accented by modern details for a chic celebration.
Alexis carried anemones, ranunculus, dahlias, ruscus and umbrella ferns. Southern smilax hung over centerpieces of Italian ruscus, Queen Anne’s lace and umbrella ferns.
Wooden tables, linen runners and marble chargers brought an organic look to the modern glass building. Alexis and Jamie served strawberry rhubarb, lemon meringue and caramel budino jar pies. Friends and family signed their names or left a fingerprint on enlarged sheet music from “Bridal Chorus.” Alexis wore a plunging crepe dress and pearl-and-gold headpiece, while Jamie sported a shawl-collar tux.
