“We first met in sixth grade and dated for about four days,” Becky laughs. Though it didn’t work out in middle school, Becky and Ryan were reunited years later through a mutual friend. And after a few emails, the two got together at a local Tulsa pub to discuss law school -- Becky was applying, Ryan was already in -- and before the night was over, they were an item. The Bride Rebecca Jurek, 26, law student The Groom Ryan Heatherman, 26, U.S. Marine Corps attorney The Date June 17 The proposal came six months later as Becky was preparing to leave for law school. The couple had planned a trail run, so Ryan spent the morning putting up signs along the route and leaving flowers and a note at the spot where he would pop the question. As the two journeyed along the trail, Becky was completely unsuspecting -- she thought Ryan was just doing something nice to send her off. “It was the perfect proposal,” Becky remembers. “His note said that he had a question for me and when I turned around after reading it, he was on one knee and asking me to marry him.”

After the ceremony, guests headed to Becky’s parents’ home for an outdoor reception under a large tent. Two long tables were arranged next to each other to create one large square table decorated with sage green runners and napkins. Small floral arrangements were placed on the runners along with six small candles.
Becky and Ryan’s three-tiered wedding cake featured four different flavors including chocolate with raspberry filling and vanilla with white cream filling. The outside of the cake was decorated with a beautiful floral design, the couple’s monogram, and a bouquet of fresh peonies.
The Reception
Ryan and his two brothers all donned their Marine Corps blues for the celebration. Ryan’s other four groomsmen sported classic black tuxedos with black ties. The guys softened their look with green orchid boutonnieres.
All the bouquets featured the bride’s favorite flowers -- peonies and hydrangeas -- in shades of pink, purple, and green. “They were gorgeous!” Becky says.
Becky chose a mermaid-cut Vera Wang gown for her big day. The gown was made of duchesse satin and featured satin-covered buttons down the back.
“The church is gorgeous on its own,” Becky says, “so we only used two floral arrangements.” The green and white circular arrangements were placed on candleholders at the altar and did not distract from the church’s incredible stained glass windows, wood detailing, and marble. “It is really a beautiful place to worship and be married in,” Becky says.
Becky paired her Vera Wang gown with Jimmy Choo sandals, and simple jewelry for a chic, elegant look.
