After a romantic Italian proposal, Becky and Nick made plans for a summer wedding much closer to home -- though not without Italian influences. A black-and-white theme held together all the key details, creating a contemporary contrast to the romantic, Italian-style setting. THE BRIDE Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Wilkins THE GROOM Jonathan Nicholas (Nick) Blackhall THE DATE June 4 During her senior year of college, Becky, 23, an interior designer, jumped at the chance to spend time abroad in Italy, even though it meant being farther away from her boyfriend, Nick 25, a studio operator for a local television news program. He had graduated from the same school the year before, and he told Becky he would be too wrapped up with work to take time off for such an elaborate trip. On Becky's fourth day in Rome, even though she was already exhausted from sightseeing, her friends convinced her to join them for a night out on the town. While she paused to take a snapshot of her pals in front of the Pantheon, she heard a familiar voice behind her say, Do you want me to take that picture for you? Within seconds, her friends were the ones taking pictures, as Nick dropped to one knee and proposed to Becky.

Becky and Nick's wedding cake was a square confection accented with pearlized white-fondant buttons, white calla lilies, and black trim. To keep with the color scheme and please my taste buds, the icing was white but the cake itself was dark chocolate, Becky says.
The Boutonniere
Becky chose a white, strapless satin A-line gown -- which happened to be the first dress she tried on!
Surprisingly, Nick opted out of the classic black-and-white tux—Becky says he never wanted to wear one. Instead, for himself and his groomsmen he chose white guayaberas with black embroidery, a stylish (and heat-friendly) option.
One of Becky and Nick's first big decisions was choosing a site --which was a tough job, at least until they rounded the bend that led them to the Villa Antonia. We only went out there on a whim, but as soon as we saw it, we immediately booked the site! Becky says.
For Becky's four attendants, she had hoped to find that elusive quarry -- a style that they could (and would) actually want to wear again. She succeeded by choosing a black dress with a sheer black plaid overlay and a white satin ribbon at the waist.
