This Warm Garden Wedding Was a Modern Fairytale at Clark Gardens in Weatherford, Texas

Katelyn Schuckenbrock and Cole Weatherson reveal the sweetly simple inspiration behind their fall wedding’s motif: each other! “We wanted to keep the wedding 'organic' in that sense. There were no specific boxes to check—we just wanted it to feel like us,” explains the bride. Their celebration was nothing short of warm and inviting, mirroring the sweethearts’ innocent beginning as neighbors in the same apartment complex and their year-long stretch as strictly friends.

When it came to outfitting their al fresco venue, the couple wanted to accentuate the natural beauty of the botanical garden with their complimentary autumnal color palette. “We felt our job was to highlight what was already available to us,” Kayla says. “We used a stunning floral arch for our ceremony and we chose to go with ceremony chairs that would mimic the natural wood tones already present in the space: simple but so effective.” The arch towered, flanked by a small grove of trees providing ample shade, towered over the lawn. The way the light hit the space created an enchanted meadow look—palpably romantic.

Bridesmaids donned gowns in varying marsala and burnt orange shades; the collection of mixed colors perfectly lent itself to the season. While each woman carried a posey of light blooms, the bride held a striking bouquet of bolder, cascading flowers. Katelyn wore a sleek crepe dress featuring an all-lace, sheer back." Timeless, classic, and elegant with a touch of sexy!” the bride gushes about her ensemble. Katelyn accented her look with drop earrings with silver, pearl and deep blue elements.

After exchanging their vows, the newlyweds and their loved ones traveled through the dreamy botanical gardens to get to the reception space. Attendees found their seats from a deep turquoise escort card display holding simple name tiles. Round dining tables sported unique blue-and-white table linens featuring geometric designs. Each table was topped with blue and gold-rimmed chargers in between copper-colored goblets. Low centerpieces in the signature floral colors and tall candles completed the tablescape and added a contrasting focal point, adding a designer element to the space.

Once revelers bellied up to the bar, they were met with an adorable (and personalized) signature cocktail menu—The Ray and The Rosie, complete with sketches of both drinks’ canine namesakes next to their descriptions. The menu sat inside a vibrant arrangement with lush greenery and deep red, blush, pink and yellow blossoms.

The delectable dessert was displayed proudly—a three-tier wedding cake with fondant designs mimicking the couple’s invitation design. Dusty rose and cream colors gave the cake a soft look, while the geometric dome shapes and asymmetrical flower placement modernized the design and set it apart from your average wedding dessert.

With a few postponements due to the pandemic, Katelyn and Cole were finally able to host their fairytale nuptials one year after their original date. “We had no idea what 2020 had in store for us. It was tough, but looking back, I have so much pride in how we handled everything on our plate during that time,” tells the bride. One of the most helpful elements in juggling everything: their planner. “If hiring a wedding planner (day of, month of, full, etc.) is attainable within your budget, do it. You deserve to enjoy the process as much as you can and having professional help is truly a game changer!”
