Audrey & Mick: An Outdoor Wedding in Grand Lake, CO

Surrounded by natural beauty, Audrey and Mick tied the knot in a mountain-top celebration overlooking Grand Lake. The wife of one of Mick’s college buddies was in Audrey’s book club, “and after she got to know me a bit she decided Mick and I would be a perfect match,” Audrey remembers. “She gushed about how wonderful he was -- in fact, he sounded too good to be true!” At the same time, she’d been telling Mick all about Audrey. With a little coaxing, the two decided to meet for drinks. “We waited a while before our first meeting,” Audrey says. “We wanted to be sure the timing was right.” Though they kept their date casual, there was chemistry right away. The day before New Year’s Eve 2003, about a year after their setup, Mick planned a surprise for Audrey, since she had closed on a new house. “Mick’s enthusiasm usually tips his hand when it comes to surprises, but he kept this one sealed tight!” she says. He escorted Audrey to her new home, where he’d set up a blanket with candles, flowers, and champagne in the middle of the otherwise empty living room floor. “It was very romantic, but I thought we were just celebrating my new home until Mick dropped to his knee and popped the question!” Audrey says.
