After palling around through college, Bricken dropped a diamond ring into a glass of champagne one night and enlisted a waiter to deliver it to the table. When Ashleigh finally noticed it, she fished the ring out and followed Bricken to the mens' room to wash it clean. There on the tile, he dropped to one knee and asked her to be his wife. Ashleigh and Bricken then began planning an intimate wedding celebration in the adjoining yards of her family and neighbors. After the ceremony, a horse and carriage whisked Ashleigh and Bricken back to the bride's parents' home, which shares a cul-de-sac with four other southern-style housees.
Ashleigh donned a strapless silk organza gown with a trumpet skirt by Christos. Her slip was made from the fabric and lace of her mother's wedding dress, which was also used to make the ring pillow.
