Katherine Burkett (22 and a travel consultant) and Austin West (22 and a medical student) both play saxophone and met through a college band. They chose the McNay Art Museum, a Spanish Colonial-Revival mansion, as their venue because of its memories. The bride’s mother also took her wedding photos there. “Every time my mom and I drove up to the McNay, we’d take a deep sigh because it’s so beautiful,” Katherine reminisces. Naturally, a sax quartet played as guests arrived. Displayed in the center of each dining table was a towering gold centerpiece that coordinated perfectly with each gilded charger. In addition to a classic white cake filled with strawberries, the couple cut into a Star Wars–inspired groom’s cake in the shape of R2-D2. “Austin absolutely loves the movie, so the cake was perfect for him,” Katherine says.
