Antiques Filled This Eclectic Wedding at The Turn Vintage Warehouse in Newport, Kentucky

Arlene Grullon (35 and the director of an emergency shelter program) and Teresa Lajara (35 and a local government liaison) mix old and new with ease. The couple met the new-old-fashioned way, OkCupid, and later, proposed to one another with vintage rings. Arlene’s was rejected in its past life. “We changed its track record,” Teresa says. The pair invited guests to a brunch-style ceremony at The Turn Vintage with telegrams and asked a friend to smudge sage before their vows. The duo chose stylish attire that steered clear of traditional white. Arlene wore an orange and navy two-piece, while Teresa shined in an equally flattering dress. Arlene and Teresa embraced their antique surroundings, inviting guests to relax on the sofas and admire chalkboard art featuring a popular quote. The newlyweds took the floor as two friends performed “Take the World” by Johnnyswim and invited guests to join them and take on the world together during the second verse. Guests ate Dominican-style yellow cakes with pineapple filling and meringue icing for dessert and left with copies of Eres Tu, a friend’s comic book about their love story.
